Mission
The mission of MnSCU's Center for Teaching and Learning is to promote and support collaborative professional development for all MnSCU faculty in order to improve student learning through enhanced teaching effectiveness. CTL programs serve thousands of individuals each year and staffing is provided by faculty development professionals with extensive teaching experience in public higher education. Governance is provided by the CTL Steering Committee, composed of faculty and administrators from campuses and the system office. A network of 70 CTL Campus Leaders provide faculty development services on each of MnSCU's 53 campuses.
Rationale
In order to best serve MnSCU's students, we believe that a concentrated, centrally coordinated faculty development program for MnSCU faculty can maximize the benefit of dollars spent on professional development. Foremost, we support the development of faculty learning communities on all campuses. By promoting campus CTL's and enhancing professional development opportunities for all faculty, MnSCU CTL not only supports the MnSCU Strategic Plan, but those on all campuses as they apply to teaching and learning.
Objectives
To provide an integrated, supportive and sustained program of faculty development initiatives equally appealing and useful to technical college, state university, and community college faculty in such areas as instructional technology, active learning, critical thinking, assessment of student learning, sharing of best practices, and internships.
