Role of Higher Education in a World of Crisis: Fiscal/Economic, Environment/Climate Change, Health
conference
November 6, 2009, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Today’s fiscal/economic, environmental and health crisis provide huge challenges for Higher Ed, especially for the pursuit of expanded intercultural, international and global education. New kinds of collaborations, partnerships and paradigms, however, may offer ways forward in the arena of Higher Ed. New collaborations, partnerships and paradigms also offer ways to address and “solve” the crisis areas themselves. These are the concepts we want to explore at our conference. We also want to showcase good examples of collaboration, partnerships and new paradigms within and among Higher Ed institutions and between Higher Ed and business, government and NGO sectors both here in the U.S. and abroad.

Who should attend: Faculty and staff who are interested in deepening their knowledge of the three crisis areas. Faculty & staff in economics or business, nursing or allied health fields, environmental studies, social sciences or global studies and intercultural education and international programming including study abroad and exchange of students and scholars.
