CTL Programs
The Center for Teaching and Learning promotes and supports collaborative professional development for all state college and university faculty in order to improve student learning. The CTL supports the development of faculty learning communities on all campuses. By promoting campus centers and enhancing professional development opportunities for all faculty, the CTL supports the systemwide strategic plan, as well as campus academic planning.
CTL programming happens on-campus and around the state. Programs are available for interdisciplinary groupings of faculty, disciplinary meetings, and campus-based faculty leaders.
Programs Information
Educational Opportunities
A variety of Educational Opportunities are offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning. In addition to the conferences, seminars, workshops and other events provided throughout the year, CTL has a resource database. Here you will find CTL created and sponsored tutorials and courses, as well as resources for grants and additional conferences.
Discipline Workshops
Discipline and Program Workshops provide opportunities for faculty within a particular discipline or program to meet in a systemwide gathering. The primary focus of these workshops is the integration and improvement of teaching and learning within specific discipline and program areas. Workshops are open to all full-time and part-time MnSCU faculty within the discipline. Ten to twelve discipline workshops are offered every academic year
The workshops are planned and coordinated by MnSCU faculty or campus administration and staff. The planner decides on content and format with assistance from CTL staff. Planning a Workshop.
Grants
The Center for Teaching and Learning offers opportunities for state college and university faculty and staff to apply for funds to support improved teaching and learning on system campuses.
CTL Leadership Development
New Faculty Leaders are individuals chosen every year to work in collaboration with the faculty development team and with other Faculty Leaders (e.g., CAO, deans, the director of a campus teaching center, faculty development committees, and others) in the development and support of on-campus faculty development activities.
Learning That Lasts
Learning That Lasts was a state-wide faculty development initiative supported by the Bush Foundation and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Center for Teaching and Learning. The project included statewide faculty development, instructional development funds for faculty, and campus-based leadership development.
