Teaching for Thinking
A Bush Foundation grant to the Minnesota Community College System continued after the merger of the state colleges and universities. Teaching for Thinking consisted of several statewide projects to strengthen students' problem-solving and writing skills across a broad range of disciplines and programs. Directors of the grant were Connie Stack and Joel Peterson. In a serial entitled Open to Change: Strategies in Thinking, Writing, and Classroom Assessment, they published articles by faculty who conducted classroom research on their use of new teaching methods and assignments. Volumes I and II of Open to Change, as well as the project Final Report, are available in the CTL Library. Call 651-649-5740 or email ctl@so.mnscu.edu to borrow a copy.
