Special Initiatives
Since CTL's beginning in 1997, shortly after the merger that created the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, the Center has administered regular programs for faculty professional, instructional, and leadership development. These regular, ongoing programs have been supplemented by several targeted and time-limited special initiatives, including:
- 2007 - 2008 Project Kaleidoscope
- 2005 - 2006 Designed for Learning
- 2002 - 2005 Learning That Lasts
- 1998 - 2002 Learning By Doing
- 1999 - 2001 Kellogg Leadership Institute
Many of these projects have built upon work done within statewide projects coordinated in the former Minnesota Community College and Minnesota State Universities systems. Some examples of major faculty development projects that focused on general education, critical thinking, and cultural diversity include:
- 1992 - 1997 Teaching for Thinking
- 1985 - 1991 Writing Across the Curriculum
CTL has received generous support for these several initiatives from partners like Project Kaleidoscope and external grantors, including the Archibald Bush Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, as well as from Office of the Chancellor partners, Instructional Technology, Minnesota Online, and the Educational Grants Unit.
