Writing Across Curriculum
From 1985 through 1991, the Minnesota Community Colleges were actively involved in a leading national initiative to educate faculty about writing across the curriculum.
The Archibald Bush Foundation provided more than $600,000 in grants to the Minnesota Community College System for several statewide projects to improve the teaching of writing skills across a broad range of disciplines and programs. The work was led by project director, Walter J. Cullen, and reported in several presentations and articles in the 1980s and 1990s. A monograph, Open Minds - Finding Voices: Resources for Using Writing to Stimulate Learning, was published in 1991. That volume, as well as the project's 1988 and 1991 reports, are available in the CTL Library. Call 651-649-5740 or email ctl@so.mnscu.edu to borrow a copy.
